Cubaï est né d’une expérience vécue il y a plus de vingt ans en Amazonie bolivienne : la rencontre avec un jaguar orphelin, qui devint pendant quinze ans un membre singulier de ma famille. Cette proximité a transformé ma perception du vivant et fait émerger des questions qui persistent : que signifie intervenir dans la vie d’un autre être ? Peut-on réparer les dommages causés au vivant ? À travers mes souvenirs et de ceux qui ont partagé cette histoire, le documentaire explore notre difficulté à coexister avec le sauvage et à reconnaître la présence d’êtres autres qu’humains. L’histoire de Cubaï est celle d’un jaguar, mais aussi celle de notre difficulté à habiter un monde commun avec les autres formes de vie.

Cubai was born from an experience I lived more than twenty years ago in the Bolivian Amazon: meeting an orphaned jaguar who became, for fifteen years, a singular member of my family. This proximity transformed my perception of the living world and raised questions that remain with me: what does it mean to intervene in another being’s life? Can we repair the damage we cause to the living world? Through my memories and those of the people who shared this experience, the documentary explores our difficulty in coexisting with the wild and recognizing the presence of beings other than humans. Cubai’s story is that of a jaguar, but also of our difficulty in inhabiting a shared world with other forms of life.
